Thanks Brian for pointing that out. There is a local guy that does dyno work and he has the access to the mustang dyno. He swears up and down about them compared to others. He said they are a little more conservative than others but who knows. Where are you located? I'd love to get a group going to go on rides and such. Most of the SoCal rides are a couple of hours away from me, I'm about 30 miles North of San Diego.

Small turbos and mild cams.

I think it' better to to say your torque curve isn't falling as much as peaking a lot in the middle.

I have a friend with 3.6 an dual trick turbos that experimented with all kinds of cams. He noticed that wilder cams shifted torque curve upwards (= more HP). He's was running two GT30BB's and GT2 EVO cams.

Mark,
Nice job and craftsmanship. I like your work. What are your EGT and do you find having EGT helpflull in tuning?

Mark,

I'm in Oceanside. There are lots of good roads out east of the 15. We really should plan a little canyon run in the couple of weeks. The east side of Palomar Mtn or the 79 from Warner Springs to Julian are some personal favs lately...or Lilac and Couser Canyon if you like the super-duper twisty stuff.

Thanks everyone again!

Dean, I'm seeing egt's of 1500 under full boost, a little high for my liking. I think its due in part by the overlap of my 993ss cams. I think it's great to have it as atuning tool but not nearly as important as a wide band O2.

Brian, we will have to hook up and go for some rides. I think there are a couple of other guys around too. I'm going to be gone for a week starting tomorrow so lets plan on something in a couple of weeks.

Rarly, any time dude.

Matt, HA! I'm just an apprentice and probably always will be learning so a book is way off. I am contimplating a cost effective turbo kit though

Phil, I am running k16/24 hybrids. They are ok but a little agressive for my displacement and cam setup. They come on very strong but a little week down low. My next step (after I enjoy it a little while) will be cganging to some Garrett GT's.

cheers all.

I used to keep down to about a bar of boost but on nice cold days I sometimes used to turn it up to around 1.2 bar which is almost 18 PSI.

18lbs is approx 1.22bar, right?

Do you use water or methanol injection or anything similar to supplement that kind of boost with 8.5:1 comp ratio? I know you've got a huge intercooler, but... wow! That's a lot of squeeze!

Mark,

Any updates with the new GT turbos? I hope you let us know if you are still considering a low-cost turbo setup before I get too far into my really low-buck and even lower-skill TT setup! Knowing the way my custom projects usually turn out, I will probably end up with duct tape and cardboard trying to contain 5 psi of boost in the intake tract!

Will do Steve. You're more than welcome to tag along with that monster 914 of yours. Right now I'm thinking June 19th, 26th or 27th are possiblities for a little canyon run/get together.

Hey, I'm ready for a run! Yes, I now have my Gt's on and I like them a lot. I still have some tuning to do as I'm sure I'm hitting places in the maps that it's never seen befor but its still running pretty good. I'm sure we could get a fairly sized group together, we just need to find a date that everyone is available. Sunday mornings work best for me. I haven't pursued the turbo kit concept any further. I've been spending all my free time finishing the CNC conversion on my mill so I can make some parts I want to sell.
