SC Rebuild - current status

Thought I would post some pics of the current rebuild. Another testimony to the outstanding book written by Wayne on the rebuild.

http://home.comcast.net/~tisserand/engine_plan.html

I will also be documenting the install of an SDS EM-4F EFI system, so if interested, stay tuned!!!!

Thanks,
DAniel

If you're interested in the SDS install, I now have an update on what is modified on the wiring harness. If you see something glaringly missing in the steps, don't hesitate to point it out. I have already screwed it up once by cutting off the wires to the oil pressure and temp sensor. Live and learn...

Very Nice job, what was the displacement of the engine when you started? Please post some pics of your car.

What pistons and cans did you use? I am looking at twin plugs with 10.3

Carmaneddy,
It is a 1981 911SC:

I started rebuilding the 3.0L due to three broken head studs...

Mike,
The Pistons at 98mm JE with 9.5-1 comp. Cylinders are bored and replated 95mm cylinders. All from EBS Racing. The pistons are available in just about any comp you want. I think 9.5 and 10.3 are off the shelf parts and are immediately available.

Craig,
I am expecting 240-250HP. I've got quite a bit of dyno time budgeted for tuning the EFI. so I'll publish the numbers.
Thanks for the positive feedback...

Eye candy, Eye candy...

Please, daddy... upload more pictures of that badboy! Those pistons look "pissed" just sitting there.

Man. That's cool.

Okay, I found inexpensive Fuel injectors, disadvantage is they only come in sets of 8. Ford Motorsports carries Bosch FI in their catalog. Example prices for a set of 8:
19lb $209.95
24lb $229.95
30lb $239.95
38lb $399
42lb $379.95
50lb $499.95

I picked my 30lb up at Dallas Mustang.

Wayne,
This may be a less expensive way to provide Bosch injectors for the masses if you are interested in carrying them.

New pics loaded

Just made a quick update to the pics on the web. Not much detail added to the EFI install, just pics. Will try and work in the details this week. Good news, got the EFI CPU to power up and read the installed sensors. So far, so good!!!!

It lives!!!! Got through the cam break in and the first oil change. I'll try and post new pics soon. Did the first run with the SSI only, no muffler. Boy is it loud!!!! Hope to complete with a few missing parts from Pelican this week. I fried the ignition switch during all of the testing. It won't power off now, even with the key completely out. Also having trouble getting signal from the Head temp sensor. Haven't found a good place to mount and am getting poor contact, I assume.

Tim,
I'm guessing about 230-240HP. I will post dyno numbers in a couple of weeks once the breakin is complete. SDS highly recommends using a dyno for doing the tuning, though they have a street drive process as well.

Daniel
