86 911 Turbo DME relay?

I have been having intermittent fuel pump trouble. If I bridge the red relays, the fuel pumps run and the car starts right away. I purchased a DME relay #911 618 154 00 which I thought was correct for my car. I realized it was not correct, do turbos use a different relay. Under the seat ,there are 2 relays #930 618 123 00 and 930 617 131 00, are one of these the DME relay? One last question, on other related posts similar to this problem, I have seen references to the square yellow relay in the engine compartment (on my car it is #911 615 118 00) can you tell me what the function of this relay is. Sorry, for the long question, but I see how knowledgable all you guys are, so I thought one of you could help me out. Thanks in advance

I'm not strong on my Turbo tech stuff....( others, c'mon, help this guy out)....but I think the 86 Turbo still used the CIS injection system...and therefore would not use the normal "DME" relay that is used for (say) the 84-89 normally aspirated cars that use the Motronic injection.

You should get advice from guys close to Turbos...but also check all manner of grounds and electrical contacts...since the forcred bridging experiment you did seems to indicate trouble of this sort. How handy are you at chasing down electrical issues with a multi-meter?

Wil is correct your '86 has CIS injection and doesn't use a DME. Did you try replacing the red fuel pump relay? Sounds like it must be bad if you can bridge the pin sockets and get the fuel pump to run.

The 930 uses 2 fuel pump relays and they are located in the luggage compartment. I forget which 2 they are but you can look it up in the owner's manual. That's where I found the info a while back.
