You got to be joking? My car was previously a daily driver. PO put about 50k miles in 3 years. 100-150k miles! He spent about 5k on repairs / upkeep in that timeframe. He was a mechanical illiterate and had to outsource everything.

Do you think in Germany, 911 drivers had or have the luxury of a second car on the side? Heck no! These cars are made to be driven -daily! I drove my 911 all winter. My rainy day car, until the ragtop can come out again. My ragtop is 10 years older than my 911, by the way...

I think Fender's kidding here. Lotsa guys on this BBS drive their p-cars daily. At least, I hope he's not buying a 911 so he can just stare at it :)

someone gets humor...i actually wanted to have a daily driver porsche but some members from the board advised against it

aigel 03-09-2004 09:54 PM

Fenderguy:

Your targa in AZ at that mileage should be no problem to drive daily. If you sell all other cars in the household, you can save so much $ that a rental car here or there will be peanuts. Just my two cents. Of course, I am a carnut, so I am already proud with 'only' 4 cars in the household.

selling my other car is an idea? but like i said some members advised against . here in arizona in the summers i would be afraid to daily drive the 911 in 115 degree weather. we will see what happens, i would rather have a second car for that "what if"

I'm in NorCal and I can tell you that in AZ or Miami, there is simply no way you can drive an older 911 everyday in the summer. Just don't do it. It hurts, it's painfull, it will make you hate the car.

Personally I'm gonna see how this Summer pans out here in the Bay Area. If the heat gets bad, which I doubt it will, I'll look into buying a 2nd car for daily driving. Hopefully I can just pull through with the Porsche for the summer...

moazam 03-09-2004 10:27 PM

ack, double post.

vash 03-10-2004 10:17 AM

AZ is "africa" hot! i would have every bell and whistle that even claimed to drop the temp any magnitude of a degree. just kidding, that cool collar is just plain crazy talk.

now who is next to get a 911? anymore OPM we need to spend?

Hey Fenderguy,

I work for for a great company called HRH Insurance. (We're not small, though...we're the 7th largest insurance brokerage in the country.) I know we have an office in Phoenix. We're always looking for new producers, if you decide to "jump" from where you are now. Here's a link to the webpage job description. Maybe we can help you with the next Porsche!

2002M3Drew thanks for the lead. But like I said before I am doing entry level postion in the life insurance business, so I am new to the business, but learning. Its something that I was thinking of doing as a career. BTW nice character pic, how much for a mono-o-rail?

I forgot the response to that question in the song! ha ha ha That and the Canyonero ad are my favorites!

ed bates 03-11-2004 08:33 PM

Whats the status??????Do you have the car?

FenderGuy 03-11-2004 09:18 PM

bank deal at the moment so its going to take a few days and the seller said he would wait for me...seems i am lucking out on this one and trust me i am doing some creative shet to get this car

FenderGuy 03-11-2004 09:30 PM

Hey ed bates take your time on your car ok..i was in such a hurry to get one that i wasnt thinking and almost bought a money pit. Take your time and find the right Porsche to PPI after all ,PPI's are not cheap but they worth the money if they find anything wrong with the cars. I suggest you enjoy your "other" cars and find the "right" car....
Wheres Nostatic and One whipped puppy on this matter?

Remodeling my house for my pregnant wife. Don't be afraid of the daily driver thing, I have a 70T for a daily, an SC is civilized in comparison. My choice was a Porsche daily, or no Porsche at all, and #2 just didn't sound like any fun. If you can afford it though, it'd be nice to have a second car, especially if you plan on doing your own work/ mods. Glad you're going through with it, I'd hate to see you come this far for nothing. Keep us updated, and lots of pics when you get it!:D
