71 T can someone run the numbers please? Pricing?

Looked at a 71 T targa in sad shape today:

engine: 6106015
vin ? (Fahrgestellnummer) 9110110581

Is this a T and is that enigne a 2.2 T engine?

The car is rotten to shreds, hardly anything of the interior and trim is useful. The engine and trans are complete and 'look' okay. Sat for several years.

What's it worth? It is a parts car. What is a core dog leg trans and a T engine worth for these years?

George

George-
Your numbers indicate a 1970 US "T" targa with Sportomatic. Engine number fits with the VIN.

Sure had a stick shift in there.

Excuse my ignorance. Where do you look these numbers up and where do you see it is a sportomatic?

So, anyone have an idea what a car like this is worth? It is rusted badly, beyond repair, in my book, and it hasn't run in a few years. It looks pretty complete under the decklid. Are the carbs and engine worth any $?

TIA, George

Does it have Zeniths or Webers? Complete Webers seem to go for around $1000. Is it cheap?

Seller is asking $2300. Seems that one could recover that. But am I going to part an early car in my sideyard, without needing a single bit off of it, just to make a buck?

There really isn't much except for the drivetrain that looks useable. The fuchs paddle style wheels are in decent shape too.

Interior is completely trash and there is not a single body panel without rust or problems, holes in the structural areas of the unibody, targa top shot. A few trim pieces and bumper bits are nice. That's it.

Do you think I could do the porsche world (and myself) a favor by parting this car? What is a T engine worth? Can't be much!

Cheers, George

Porsche Redbook by Patrick C. Paternie lists engine numbers
6105001-6107999 as engine type 911/08 (US Sporto) 2.2 liter
Is that engine type stamped in your case?

That number is clealy stamped in the case, under the fan housing. I am sure the sporto had race cams, eh?
