About the only time I can recall getting out of 3rd gear was on a dyno several weeks ago (accelerating to 105 mph). Like everyone else, I take it easy until she's good and warm, and then rarely let her drop below 3500 rpms. True, I don't do freeway driving (then I'd probably go to 4th), but I've got a 23 mile one-way commute to work (taking the 'back roads'), and go weeks & months at a time only using the first three gears...now I'm starting to wonder why I even have a 5th

Hi, just had my 83sc rebuilt. Was thinking taking a trip to VA, about 6-7hours of driving one way. Would you recommend a constant 7hrs driving?

Dynoed my car before a trip to Le Mans to see a friend compete.
381hp. Saw 202mph on the speedo on the way down and 203mph on the way back. Dynoed the car again a week after getting back 417hp. Moral of the story? God will hate you if you drive his car like a Pussy. P. |

hi guys, thanks for the feedback. yes engine was rebuild about 200 miles. I broke it in with BradPenn -30w (oil change twice during BrakeIn). Now it has BradPen 20w50. Mechanic says i should give it a go.
Still debating whether I should or just drive it around town here. thanks you. |

If it was a veedub , you would.
An SC is a lot tougher. Go for it!

Fish or cut bait. What do you expect being the issue? It has been broken in with the break in oil, fresh oil is inside, the mechanic gives it a thumbs up, so why not?
Like I said, it probably is an advantage to keep it at operating temperature for the first thousand miles over many heat / cool cycles. Cheers, George |
