How ya like dem apples?

Just finished pulling out the original sound deadening material off the the rear deck and seat area. I knew the car was rust free but man is it beautiful!

The rust colored areas are just the glue color over the paint, it is totally rust free!!!

Your not putting it back in are you? That stuff is heavy. Mine was also a little wet which added even more wieght. Are you gonna scrap the bottom of your tub? I just did & pulled up about 16lb of crap.

3.2 CAB - Thanks.

bigrubberjeep - The car has been in Seattle Washington it's entire life.

Schrup - Since I've gone this far I figure I might as well get everything out of there since technology has marched on since the car was manufactured. Plus I wouldn't mind losing a couple pounds in the process.

Hey! I remember that car...

I was looking at it too. Nice to see that it has turned out very well for you.

Now that I can see how nice it is...I wish that I had bought it.

Did you put the original rear deck on, or are you running with the ducktail?

Shawn.

Wow, that's great. I thought Seattle was a very "rust-prone" area?

Shawn - Your car is out there somewhere waiting for you, you just have to find it. For now I'm still running with the duck tail due to it's weight difference. If it makes you feel any better second gear is gone (came that way), and I'll be rebuilding shortly.

azasadny - I don't know if seattle is more prone to rust prone than other parts of the US since we don't salt our roads here. Mildew/mold is very high for cars that aren't driven often and are stored outside.

That's almost to pretty to look at. I'm afraid to pull mine but, know I got to. Have you looked into lighter weight alternatives?

I know a lot of you guys (especially the ones with helium dreams) paint and move on to the next drilling project.

What's available for us fence sitters?

Cheers, Michael

Well I've got the bug, this weekend I'm going to try the dry ice trick on the floor.

Once you start peeling watch out there's no going back!

Just wait and see I'll be one of those guys who starts a little project and ends up doing everything all at once.

CHILI - I replaced the oil return tubes after I found a lake in my garage.
Rebuilt the front calipers to fix a stuck piston in the caliper. Rebuilt again after the first rebuild leaked past the piston seals. Hooked up the city lights in the H4's.
Rebuilt the transmission shift linkage and coupler with all new bushings.
Fixed the glove box light and top two interior lights.
Fixed the antenna.
Adjusted drivers side window to seal better.
Converted internally regulated alternator to external by relocating the internal regulator to the engine compartment side panel, removed old external unit.
Replace air guide behind alternater (original had broken fins).
Replaced fan belt.
Changed oil/filter.
Currently tuning carbs (didn't finish last time).
Oiled K&N (eyeing those ITG filters) I feel bad every time I start it with those on.
Checked Transmission fluid level.
Waxed it.

I am not going to feel any better to hear that your trans gears are worn. Dood, you car is hot.

901 trans rebuilds or a replacement trans is pocket change compared to what rust repair costs can be. You have a sweet solid car there. We are all happy for you.

Shawn.

That is a beautiful sight, I wish mine looked like that. Have you driven it without the foam deadening stuff yet? I had mine out because it was all soaked, lazy PO didn't replace the leaking rear window seal, but in the week I had it out while waiting on my POR15 I got really tired of the noise. It's like the deadeding filters out all of the annoying noises of the engine, but with it out you hear it all. Or maybe I'm just a panzie, that could be too.

Makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside to pull the sound deadening back and find that.

Was your car an ohio car its whole life? They salt the roads right?
Was it brought up as a fair weather only car.
