3.0 to 3.6? MM says it can be done...
check this
now...would that work with a 3.0? i mean..how much would you have to bore out the cases to allow for this and wouldnt that cause that area to be weak and become very very scary?

Anything from MM should be avoided dude. Those are byrol cylinders, which as i understand it were used in the very early motors before porsche went to aluminum cylinders with ausil and nikasil coatings.
Plus they don't list machined work in order to except the 101mm bore (however extensive that may be). Why not get those new cylinders that pelican carry (can't think of the name off the top of my head)? They seem to have a strong backing and are a little less than mahle cylinders. Couple that with a set of custom JE pistons and you've saved some money over mahle stuff.

Ha! Jack, always nice to be able to count on you for the succinct point well made!
It sure seems that MM has a bad rep on this board. James

Jack,
i was chased off a small cliff by a chow when i was a kid! Thanks for rehashing painful childhood memories! ![]() Ive heard of the 3.2 kit for the SC (Max Moritz), but not a 3.6... ill keep rooting around. 1fastredsc , ill check PP's P/C kits... Prolly easier to buy a 3.6! Ruf Bumpers first...then the sport seat recover...then the carpet...then the new dash...then the tranny rebuild...im sure by then ill have something else ![]()

Isn't the 3.0->3.2 a short-stroke?

blue...
yah...the 3.2 kit is basically bigger pistons and cyls to get the displacement there. the stock 3.2 got the displacement from changing the stroke and i believe the p/c for the 3.2 and 3.0 are the same diameter.

Here's the kit Andial used to sell. Note the price? It made more sense to buy a used engine.
