Decision Help!! Duck Tail or Retractable Spoiler???

Need some opinions!! I have a Guards Red 1984 Targa and I want to either put on a Duck Tail or a Retractable C2 Spoiler. Pros, cons, prices for each and modifications. There is the A/C condenser but I've got all the old A/C stuff ripped out to redo anyway.

A ducktail would be lighter and generally less of a hassle. No need to move the AC condenser..

either one is good. I'd lean towards the duck because it's simpler and lighter.

I will break with the pack here. I have a 77 red targa that I just converted to a cab and it had a duck tail. The ducks look better on coupes than targas. I just traded mine. Go with the rectratable.

If money and ease of installing are not a factor go with the retractable. Duck on a targa looks a little odd. My 2cents.

I kind of like the look of the duck, but I am leaning towards a retractable. Picking it up April 3rd! --Mike | ||

I like the C2 spoiler on Targa's, best of both worlds.

Good point Scott. Another reason to move the condenser is for better engine cooling. ScottB installed a C2 condenser in his left front fender. It took some brain work but he got if figured out and it's working good, although I don't think it was a huge improvement over stock. Here's a thread that talks about a/c options .

I already have some A/C stuff (evaporator???) in the left front fender. There is another condensor under the front bumper...where would a "belly condensor" go? Surflover, did you ditch your AC with this conversion? If not, can you snap some photos? Sweet looking car BTW...

Thanks Steve. Instead of the second condenser being on the deck lid, the C2 had it in the left front fender forward of the wheel, like the oil cooler on the right. Jack Olsen has the belly condenser, here's a thread that has pictures. A/C ? for people with under car condensor I have my a/c disconnected right now, but I left everything in (except the deck lid condenser & compressor) so I can upgrade and go w/ a belly condenser later.

Put an IROC turbo tail on it, like scruffy's... I've got one that will soon be mounted to the Deutch Coupe, I can't wait. "My wings bigger than your wing, my wing's bigger than your wing!" m.
