What's it worth? 1991 964 Turbo

58K on the clock. What's an approximate value? Are the 964-bodied Turbos worth less than the accordian-bumper ones, or more? I know the 1993 3.6 965 models have a following, but what about their little (3.3 liter, 320 hp) brothers?

This is for a friend of mine who asked. BB2 isn't going anywhere.

Nice cars, I've seen values in the mid-30s for nicely kept examples with average mileage. They're very nice cars, coilover suspension and G50 transaxle are a couple of perks compared to the accordion bumper cars.

Yeah, right. Sounds to me like you're shopping for a new engine.

Unless it's super nice, I would guess maybe 33k because I've seen them advertised for that with about those miles. Take note that at that mileage they are due for a re-seal. Just about every one I've seen for sale with 70k miles and up had a re-seal around 50-60k.

I've seen them range anywhere from $30k-$49k asking. Typically, they seem to be low $40s asking, probably settling somewhere in the high 30s. A friend of mine just went through an extensive search for a 94 3.6T, and they are substantially more ($50-$65k).

it depnds

Low milage & unmolested will cost you a little more. A turbo can last quite a while or be well worn and needing rebuild very early.
It depends

BTW the C2S listings sure look hot.. tough choice. Viper- C2S????
someday I hope to have to make that choice.

There is one up here that I looked at a couple of days ago. Right around the same mileage. All stock except for a Ruf suspension. It will fetch 60,000 cdn.

I think the only accordian-bumpered 930 that's going to fetch more than a nice 3.3 C2 Turbo would be the 89 930 in top condition. That last year of the accordian-bumpered 930 with the G50 5-speed seems to fetch big $$$ these days.

I'd agree that the car Jack's friend is looking at, depending on condition of course, is somewhere in the low $40k's????

Personally, I think they're the best Turbo out there as far as bang for your buck. 17 in. wheels, big brakes, 320 hp out of the box, 5 speed, 964 styling............... The next step up is a 965 Turbo 3.6, which demand a much higher price, and after that you're going stratospheric when you start talking about 993 Turbos.

This car should go in the 30s - perhaps the high 30s if it is in very good shape. The 3.3 965s suffer a bit in price from the stigma attached in general to the 964 line. The 965, however, does not have any of the issues that the 964 had as the 965 uses the same engine and fuel system used in the 930 line since 1978. Depending on the normal variables (maintenance, driving style, luck of the draw, etc.) the 3.3 turbo engines are good from maybe 60K - 120K before major work is needed. The 965 is no doubt the best bang for the buck in the 911 Turbo line - better suspension, transmission, and AC than the earlier models.

40 sounds way out of line to me. There was a guy on Rennlist trying to sell his last year but decided to keep it because he couldn't get more than 38 for it. His had over 60k miles but it was absolutely gorgeous and had some nice engine mods.

Also, these prices are for one with a good maintenance history and no body or paint work, except for maybe a nose respray. Selling a turbo with no maintenance history can be a dicey proposition.
