Rust on edge of brake rotor cleanup Q
Is there a way to clean this off? I tried a rust removal jelly with no effect but I'm afraid to do any grinding on the edge of the rotor. Anyone ever have this problem and clean it up?

This is bare metal and its going to rust no matter what you do. If your really picky, you can remove them, clean them up, and paint with high heat paint (silver). Have a concours coming up?

Tape up the business surface, and sandblast the rest. Kill the rust with prep and paint with high heat paint. Cross your fingers.

Thanks guys--no concours coming up, just cleaning up what I can while I'm in there. I've painted the rotor hats and the calipers are next. Then scrub out the wheelwells.

Check out Bill Verburg's photo of his. He painted the edges and they look pretty good. Not sure how they've held up since, but ask. I used the Wurth Zinc Primer spray on the raised part of my 993 rotors. Didn't think about the edges until I saw Verburg's photos, which was after I had installed. Well, next time....

I never painted the edges, just the parking brake drum.

Just the rust on the drum part, Por15 or the Wurth equivalent or the zinc rich primer that you used works well.
