Yet More MFI Tweaking
Sigh- I know I am getting closer. Everything is in and running, I am still off somewhere in the ignition and timing, but not sure what. The dwell is at 31, and the timing is set correctly, but the starting is very odd, as if it is having problems getting over TDC then starts to fire. I still have the intake covers off and the motor sounds kind of muted as if I am not getting full cobustion. The idle once warmed is still on the high side, but much more stable with the new throttle bodies. I only had BP8ES plugs which I think may be too cold for this motor. Plan on picking up some BP7ES' as they seemed to work better. Any help is appreciated!!!!

Chris,
Your dwell is out of spec -- 35° is min. ... but I'm not sure that is really an issue. Is the gap about 0.014", or is it less? 31° sounds like the gap might be a bit too tight. What is youe 'basic' initial timing when you turn the engine over by hand? TDC - 5° BTDC should be OK.

OK - that makes sense Warren, the motor sounded better at around 40 on the dwell. The gap is a tad less than .014, I seem to have to go about .37mm or so to get the dwell correct. I remember kind of being in the same place last time around when I was narrowing in on the tune. I really believe that a part of my problem is the plugs being too cold.
