Thermal Reactors

Has anyone tried wrapping header wrap around the thermals to keep the heat away from the engine? This stuff supposedly works on race cars but I don't know what effect it'll have on a 911 engine. Any thoughts?

How about just going with 3 in 1's? MUCH, MUCH, MUCH cooler and better for your car. I have a set in my garage if you're interested. I'm running SSI's now.

I also have the 3 into 1's in my garage. Thanks for the offer. I need to pass smog soon.

What if you just get the engine really hot right before you take it to get tested? Or are you more concerned about the visual check?

Have you tried passing smog with the 3 in 1's on? What year is the car? If it's got thermals, it can't be too far from not needing smog. Wohoo!

Last time I took the ol '76 in for smog, after getting the car nice and hot, it sat for 2 hours in the parking lot before he got to it! Passed with flying colors even though it didn't get on the treadmill.

Exactly! Well, at least this will be the last time (since it's every other year). Assuming they don't repeal the law. Not sure if you've heard about the issue. There was a post about it a while ago. I love not having to worry about it. Plus my reg is only something like $70. Nice!

one more smog test! i think the thermal wrap stuff was made for the two stroke motor crowd. it made the exhaust hotter, which in turn makes the spent gases "dump" into the bladder-like pipe easier. some thermodymamic theory stuff, that i almost failed in college. on your reactors, it would cook! good luck on your LAST smog!
