what is t h a t ?????



i bought it from e bay,it should be from a 911. but what year is that?
how many degrees does the temp gauge messures? and what senders do i have to put?
if i'll put a universal vdo oil pressure sender(for 150 psi),will it work?
please answer me,it will help me a lot

Looks like it might be from a european car with the temp numbers being in Celcius(??) Don't know though,.....just a thought.

Not necessarily... my (Canadian) car has the temp markings in Celcius. This gauge has no numbers at all.

A lot of those gauges have the oil temp along the side under the lip....check it, might be surprised. My SC has them and I take a look every once in a while to jog my memory. Kinda dumb to put them there....

Looks like its from a 72-73 era car from the pictures in Peter Morgans book.

Maybe I'm really confused, but it looks like the whole guage is dedicated to oil, and the numbers on the right are pressure units. The actual numbers would correlate well to PSI, not "Druck" (bar) units as in Europe, so I'm betting it's for the American market.

The left side, for temps, is reminding me of that "no numbers" era in the late sixties/early seventies. The guages coloring look appropriate to that era as well. Perhaps this guage was used in the "starter 911", the 912, where Porsche engineers may have assumed that the owners would be fine with a red line and no numerical markings.

Just a WAG, though!

Why all the guessing ? the date is on the back. Also if it has mounting studs its a 68-69 gauge . If theres no studs its a 1970 -73` .

Could be a 916 gauge.

It's not anything you'd find in a U.S. 72/73 911.

don't think there was any green on 911 gauges in 72/73
at least not on mine
also , Euro gauges, don't use psi

they have temp on the left going up to 150 C and pressure on the right going 0-2-4-6-8-10

I dont think thats actually green. Likely just the picture quality. I have over 300 or more early 911 gauges. And have seen that gauge in the boxes before. Its not rare or valuable. I just cant put a finger on the exact application. As with all VDO/Porsche gauges the part # is under the glass at the very top. That would be an easy way to end this confusion.

I doubt it's a 72/73 gauge.... According to "A restorers guide to authencity" by Dr. B. Johnsson no cars from 64 - 73 have a gauge with no numbers on the temprature scale...

dunno kurt, but the white looks white to me, so if the white's there, then that looks distinctly like green.
if the pic would have been bad quality , then my guess would be that either everything would look greenish

only the temp bars look green (as opposed to the numbers). '67 and earlier were green guages, but the numbers and bars were green.

There is a picture of a RHD '73 in Morgan's book that sorta looks like this one (numbers the same on the press side, no numbers on the temp side)...except the one in the '73 has a different looking bar setup on the temp side.

Think that one is a mystery ? Ever seen one of these units which have a idiot light at the top of the oil temp bar ? I will let you guys ponder on this one before I tell you. Or does somebody know ?
