Replacing Injectors Seals
Hello all
I just order new injector o-rings and sleeve seals in my quest to stop vacuum leaks in my SC. The Bentley manual says to install the sleeve with Loctite 620, or something similar. I found a few online places selling loctite 620, but not local stores carry it. I'm curious what you guys use when installing these. Is there 'something similar' more readily available? I dont want to skimp on something important, but also dont want to fret over a simple problem. Thanks for any advice! |

As I remember, my sleeves have an exterior o-ring to seal it to the manifold, in addition to the injector o-ring. I did not use any Locktite and haven't found any evidence of leaks.

I did not use any sealants, either. Just Dow-Corning silicone grease to help ease the o-rings in place.
This is not a fun job. The thin (old) sleeves are very brittle, and may (will) break up and fall into the intake. This job is best done when the CIS is removed, and the motor is coming apart for other work.

Thanks for the info guys. Not extactly what I wanted ot hear Doug, but it was in the back of my mind. I think I'll first replace the injector seals, that shouldnt be too bad, and then move ahead with the sleeve seals if I need to. Fun fun fun.
