Flunked the emissions test
I flunked the NJ car inspection today due to excessive emissions. I intend to change the plugs, distributor cap, distributor rotor, air filter. What else should I consider to get my car to pass (I don't have the print out in front of me but, it wasn't that bad but, bad enough not to pass).

Things to check:
1. O2 sensor working 2. air flow meter is stock (no adjustments made) 3. fuel pressure is O.K. 4. CAT has not been removed 5. No performance chip 6. temp sensor O.K. Check out this web site (www.systemsc.com) on the Problems page.

What were the NOx and CO readings? A car 17 years old probably has a used up cat converter.

Do all your adjusting during or followed up with an exhaust gas anlayzer.....if all else fails...accidently pull an injector wire...instant air pump and diluted exhaust gas.....
edit for spelling.... ![]()
