Think I'll stop for a minute before something bad happens!
I removed the fenders, hood and hood hinges on a 1977 911. Upon reassemble the hood is higher than the cowl on one side. I installed new heavy duty hood shocks. Is this simple a matter of repositioning the hinge? Does anyone have experiance with this?

Do you have spacers between the hood and hinge? They look like a square washer with a section missing. Kind of like a C but squared off.

Someone here, I think Series900, said that the front hinges were adjustable at the bolts to the body. I did not find this to be true on my '71.
What you do is to insert some washers at the rear bolt to the hood. Start with 2 as one doesn't make much difference. Add as necessary. If you are at 4 and still high, something else is wrong. At that point, I'd file the hinge holes bigger at the body. |

I'l try that, but inserting washers at the rear bolt seems like it will raise the hood! I used one of those square slotted spacers on the opposite side to do just that. My inclination is to slot the mounting holes in the hinges to "rotate" it a bit. Am I misunderstanding what you said? |

The height is adjustable at the body. Just loosten the bolts and shift the hood. It helps to have someone else to hold the hood in place before you tighten them.

Ryce: Put spacers at the frontmost hodd hinge bolt to lower the hood.
If a high pressure shock caused your hood to sit higher, your hings are worn out. But by stacking washers on the fornt bolt, you can compensate. Use washers. Those square 'C' -shaped metal pieces are American fender spacers.
