993 C2S Question

Greetings....

An ad for a '98 C2S at European Collectibles in SoCal states that the car advertised, VIN ...320518, is the 8th from the last C2S produced. My cars VIN is ...320583, which places it 65 cars later.

Does anyone know if there's a place I can check to see where mine ranks in terms of final production. I don't think it affects the value (and it certainly doesn't affect the way it drives ) -- I'm just curious.

Thanks,
JohnA

Red Book lists the last one as 321353.

Thanks, Eric. The reason I wonder how the car dealer was able to state that the C2S they had for sale was 8th from the last *C2S* is that the 2S's didn't have specific VIN designation -- they were just lumped in with Carrera Coupes. Maybe it's just dealer hype.

Should clarify that was the last VIN for all 1998 US Carrera coupes. It lists a total of 1292 produced, which I assume includes 2S and 4S models as well. In fact, I am pretty sure that all `98 C4's were "S" models. I don't know if that holds true for the C2's though.
Oh, and yes, unless the dealer has some kind of documentation/Kardex, it sounds like hype to me!

The dealer that's selling the other C2S tells me that the previous owner of the they're selling was told by a Porsche dealer that it was the 8th from last C2S. I guess I need to stop my my local Porsche store.

Does anyone sell the C2S decklid? My neighborhood put one on his 95 993 that he got from a wrecked car. It looked really good.

I was hoping for more of a rise with the comment I edited out -- I'll delete it before it comes up in my run for office.

I think that C2Ss are some of the best looking cars ever made. better still would be a 4S with a 2S grill.

C2S lids are not that hard to find, but then you have to paint them. I've seen everything from $600-$1100. Carnewal sells just the split grill spoiler kit for $350, but that's also a paint-involved job. I'm leaning toward the Carnewal kit. Dealers have the kits for over $600. I guess I should see if Wayne can tap into the same source as Carnewal has.

Lightbulb My 1998 C2S

I have a 1998 C2s with vin of 321324. The manufacuture date was 12/16/97 with a delivery date of 1/21/98. If it is true the last 993 was 321353 mine is 29th from the last.

Any porsche dealer should be able to give you the dates of manufacture from the vin.....

Any confirmations on my asumptions?
