Putting a 3.0SC engine into a 1968 SWB 911L....
Hi,
If I decide to drop a 3.0 SC engine into my 1968 911L (SWB)......do I need to get more powerful brakes? 915 Tranny?? etc..... Or will my car be able to handle all that power without updating to much stuFF? SvK |

a 915 would be nice, ive had both boxes and the 915 was a far slicker unit than the 901. S brakes would be nice too, with some decent pads, but if you are only using it on the street i wouldn't bother going too mad

I will soon be doing 2 early 3.0 conversions but these are both on LWB cars, one in a 71 and the other in a 72. I suggest you should use a 915 for that motor, also other areas to consider are brakes, oil cooling, wheels and tires, suspension upgrades (does you car have anti roll bars). There is a lot of information out there on this conversion but I have not seen any regarding a SWB conversion. I am still having probs in finding out info of which distributor to use, as both my conversions are having webers fitted.

From what I've read a 901 will live pretty happily behind a 3.0 as long as you're easy on it in 1st. (read no burnouts)
