Question Help - shift linkage cone screw

I am changing my shift linkage bushings, and of course I striped out the cone screw. I drilled it out and I have changed out the bushings. Now there is a piece or the cone screw still in the shift shaft. Does the screw thread into the shaft or is it just the cone left over. How can I get this last bit out? Thanks for any help.
Cheers

Try a magnet as there are no threads in the shift shaft, just an indent the cone part fits into. Hope this helps, Speed.

I hope the magnet works. If not, you'll have to turn it upside down and smack it hard on a piece of wood to dislodge it. Shoot some pentrating oil in there. Of course, this means having to take the shaft out of the car. HTH.

Garage
Thanks for the ideas. I put a larger drill bit on it and it twisted right out. I am back in business I am glad to have you guys and girls here. I do not post a lot, but I am reading alot. I especially like the can't shift into first thread. I may try it myself, if I can find a garage, (or talk the wife into letting me use ours for about a month)
Cheers
