I am changing my shift linkage bushings, and of course I striped out the cone screw. I drilled it out and I have changed out the bushings. Now there is a piece or the cone screw still in the shift shaft. Does the screw thread into the shaft or is it just the cone left over. How can I get this last bit out? Thanks for any help.
Cheers

Try a magnet as there are no threads in the shift shaft, just an indent the cone part fits into. Hope this helps, Speed.

I hope the magnet works. If not, you'll have to turn it upside down and smack it hard on a piece of wood to dislodge it. Shoot some pentrating oil in there. Of course, this means having to take the shaft out of the car. HTH.

Thanks for the ideas. I put a larger drill bit on it and it twisted right out. I am back in business
I am glad to have you guys and girls here. I do not post a lot, but I am reading alot. I especially like the can't shift into first thread. I may try it myself, if I can find a garage, (or talk the wife into letting me use ours for about a month) Cheers
