Just to let you know that progress is being made. There are a lot more carpet pieces than on my 356! Here are a few new vs old carpet pics.

Looks great! I am going to try my hardest to get out in that p-car rain or shine this weekend. I had it out for a short blip this past weekend. NO leaks, nothing fell off, and rides great with the new shocks.

Chris, you get gear oil, glue would send you over the top. Keep plugging Ed! With this weather, you should spin it over and we will set the rear glass.

A lot has happened since my last post. The car had a severe oil burning problem! I was afraid the rings had failed to seat, but it turned out to be oil in the muffler, heat exchangers, etc. from the previous engine issues. It runs strong with 5% leakdown and 185 psi compression. The car is tight, no squeaks or rattles.

Jane invited the local team to dinner on Saturday. The weather was sunny and in the '60's so Damon and I decided to surprise Jane and bring the car even there are still a few small things to do. Jane was so excited I couldn't get any good pics! Off came the targa top and Jane and Damon drove off into the sunset for a "short" drive of about 45 minutes. She will get to drive it for a few weeks before it gets stored for the winter.

The festivities then commenced. (See pics). Chris Lovell prepared a scrapbook with lots of pics, posts from this site and pages listing private and commercial contributors. A really great work!

Things left to do: Replace speedo, odometer doesn't work. Add external oil cooler system. Replace 7 blade fan with an 11blade one. (Jane's going to do DE) Anyone have a speedo, pn 930 641 508 00, a 226mm 11 blade fan and an external oilcooler system? There are some $ left.

Is the entire speedo bad, or has the notorious plastic gear disintegrated, rendering the odometer inoperable? If it's just the gear, they're available at www.odometergears.com.

Great Idea JCF! I would even make it to the track for that.

Even with the fact Jane asked to keep this under radar, I think it needs to be recorded (official delivery and DE) for the history of Pelican. Not for publication or any of that, I agree.

This was a phenominal effort by all those Pelican.

An absolutely great effort. What a tribute to and memory of Barry. Glad that I was able to be even a small part of it.

I really like the pages with the Avatars. What a great way of showing that this was a group effort.
