Let's Try This Again: Handy New BBS Upgrade - Help me test in this thread...

After hearing about people complain about not being able to resize and fit images so that they could be uploaded, I decided to incorporate a resizing routine into the website. Please help me test it.

The image upload feature should now allow you to post any JPG or GIF image of any size. It will reduce the size of the image on the server, and also constrain it to be 800 pixels wide or less (no biggie pics that crowd the screen).

I made a change that should work for 99.9% of all images - you should no longer get an oversize message.

For you techies out there, this is what the routine is doing:

- Checks file size, and if greater than 100K, reduces dimensions to 800 wide.
- If still greater than 800 wide, it reduces width to 640 wide.
- If still greater than 100K - it then gives the 100K error message
So only really super-tall images should trigger the error message.

It also checks *all* images and reformats them down to 800 width max so that they won't screw up the page display.

Let me know if this works any better.

-Wayne

Here's a test, starting with a 1.7M file.

Only took ~15 seconds to upload/convert. I like the results of this upgrade to the system.

ouch! Another stripped bolt? I think a drill, easy out, and a torch will get that out of there.

Dr. Mark,

I've always liked this x-ray, taken after closure of the patient, of course.

Tom
And here's a classic...
