I've gotta get rubber now. I'm debating whether to fit high performance street rubber or R-spec tyres. A set of Yokohama A032R R-spec tyres is only $800 more than a set of Yokohama V102s ....

Sweet Matt! Welcome to B-A-W Gruppe . If you go with street tires I recommend the BFG g-force KD's which I'm running 245/315 on Jack's recommendation. 4K so far with great wear and grip. How about another 3/4 view pic?

The tractor-like tread of the A032R's looks particularly intimidating in those widths.

Very good choice, going with the 17's, IMO.

Do they use an old cut Fuchs centre? I had a look at Rex's last year in Adelaide and they didn't - I think they used a cast centre that Harry has made himself.

Love the 17s.

Great tires, I'll be going back for more when I finish of this set. Even look cool on my tichy 15s.

Got 3 track training days (including C3 course), 2 sprints, 1 motorkhana and a fair bit of street driving out of these.

This is the worst one (drivers front). Technically bald on the shoulder and just off the minimum tread across the rest of the tire. Probably get one more sprint day out of them (next one is Wakefield, should wear the passenger front shoulder).

One warning: the A032R's are loud. At various times (especially after taking your helmet off) you will think you have wheel-bearing/transmission noise issues.

Yep, love the noise, the rumble sounds like a space ship as you take off and stop (not so bad now a lot of the tread is gone). When I first got them I kept saying to people "listen to the tires, isn't that cool"... got some strange looks

We had a guy in our local club here in Austin would keep using his A032Rs until they were completely bald ... and then get another weekend out of them

I'm not advocating going that extreme but you can probably get at least another 1-2 weekends out of them. May want to check on your camber though.

Yep, it's a weekend attention grabber and, now, racer. When winter's over I'm going to ditch the rear seats, replace the front seats with Sparcos or Recaros, replace the door panels with RS or RSA door panels, replace the plush carpet with lightweight carpet, and install a harness bar. The interior will then be black instead of grey.

I'm not sure if he uses original Fuchs centres or his own replica centres. I'm sure the latter would be more profitable.

I didn't want to go that wide, but my choice was limited, and considering that I only drive the car once a week, I thought R-spec tyres would work out to be more cost-effective. How's this: the widest street tyre you can get down here for those rims is 275!

As for the noise, I had Dunlop D01s on the 2.7 Carrera, and they were quite noisy, but in a cool way.
