4" tips....no not rude
Hi,
Just had my dualin single out monty delivered. After speaking with Monty himself I ended up getting a 4" tip. Bloody hell it looks big..maybe too big! I did do a search but could not find any good picks....SOOOOOOOOOOOOO anyone have any good pics of a 4" single installed. Cheers Mark.... PS......waiting for SSI from Pelican and then the JE's and Cams. |

What does Monty charge for a 4" single outlet muffler as mine needs replacing very soon.
Heres a 4" on mine but its not a Monty. Are SSI's cheaper from Pelican than you can buy them from in Australia? ![]()

Buying things not made in Oz is always expensive. I have been quoted between $1.6 (steel not stainless) and $2.2k AUD. After the exchange and shipping Pelican came in at about $1.8k AUD Including both oil pipes.
The Monty cost $850AUD less for the small diameter same for dual out. Give Monty a call he sounds a bit gruff but a nice guy. Any closer shots........I am concerned that it will look too big! more ricer than Porsche. Both nice looking cars! Would you go smaller next time? |

Heres a close up I just took.
![]() I would go the 4" again. I don't think it looks ricer at all. If it did I wouldn't have it. I'm deciding on SSI's at the moment, as I can't buy a new muffler until I reach a decision. I know someone who has a EC 2nd hand set of SSI's with muffler for $2500, but it still sounds a little expensive for 2nd hand. I was quoted about $4500 for SSI and muffler sebring brand, but thats more than I want to spend on an exhaust system.

Thanks for the pic......go with monty! Have a look at the prices from various suppliers in the states for the SSI's. I could have got the SSI's a bit cheaper from MM. However the value that I have had from this board is well above the savings that I could make by shopping around too much.
Monty $850 SSI $1800 Total $2,650 I should have put a call out for a group buy and made a better deal for everyone. Maybe I will think of that next time. Cheers Mark........... |

I was cleaning out some stuff a while back and came across the receipt for the SSI's I bought for my '72, back in the early 90's. $300!

I just took mine back to 2.25-inches -- the old-school look:

I have 3" pipes on my turbo courtesy of GHL. They're actually on their way back to GHL right now...the right side never fit correctly. I also found a crack on one side of the muffler that's got to be fixed.

It wasn't quite 2 inches...it's closer to an inch. But it also sticks out by about an inch too much. The left side fits perfectly. I bought it through ImagineAuto and they said that they sometimes have to 'persuade' the tips to fit better. Well, I couldn't find any local place that I'd trust -- and I also don't want to void my warranty. So after having it installed for a year, I contacted GHL about the issue. They are going to take care of it for me...maybe I can help them fix their jig. FYI, I also noticed that the muffler is splitting.
