Why is it that the simple things are always the hardest?

How on earth do you slide the left side heater hose onto the engine panel? The old one fell apart when I went to take it off to replace my wires so I bought one from Pelican. It feels thicker than the original so it's not as flexible. I can't bend it enough to get it to slide down to where the old one sat. It's on there now but it's not the way it should be. Is there a trick to doing this? Am I not bending it enough? I'm afraid that if I bend it too much it will crease or something. I also thought of cutting a small slit in it to help it slide down better. What am I doing wrong?!?!?!?

Damn raceman! I came back online and saw a response to my thread and thought OK, some one has the answer! Nope.
Thanks for the support though.

See, you guys always come up with something. Thanks, I'll try it tomorrow.
It won't blow bubbles out of the exhaust will it? Don't want to look like Lawrence Welk driving down the street.
