Alarm System Question: Component verification

I was doing some behind the dash clean-up last night and figured I'd try to evaluate the alarm system. Below are pics of what looks to be an aftermarket setup.

Did the '85 911 come standard with an alarm from the factory or was it dealer installed? Or was it optional? Where were the components insstalled? There are no part numbers or id marks on either part of my system, other than the visible magic-marker characters. The top pic seems to be the brains of the system with the epoxy encased main unit, relays and flasher unit. The second pic seems to be a motion sensor.

Can anyone shed light my set-up?

1st Looks like a relay for light flash. 2nd pic is for glass break sensor. Pretty ancient system and it's aftermarket. Ground is dead so it's disabled.

The glass break sensor was sitting in a hole behind the dash. It had body panel putty selaing off. It seemed to be set-up hat way purposely. ?????

Yeah, looks like a PO job. Why it wasn't anchored down who knows? It's all outdated stuff by now. Yard it all out, it's no good anymore. Save the relay's though, those are useful.

Any system brand recomendations? Last time I was remotely interested in this stuff Clifford and Viper were the big names.

I have a separate ignition cutoff switch and a battery disconnect that I'm pretty happy with.

Everything these days is DEI built, virtually everything. My Clifford is a DEI -

It's all good as long as it's got light flash and installed from a shop that's gonna be around for awhile. The warranty is the biggest thing, esp. if you're keeping it.

Directed Electronics. AKA Viper, clifford, alpine, sidewinder -

Think 6 tone siren you hear in the middle of the night while you're sleeping or at the mall.-

O yeah, get the 6 tone thing cut out! You can convert it to single tone!

I wouldn’t run with a glass detection sensor, a good frost has a habit of setting these buggers off. I’ve played around with quit a few alarms over the years. What I find works best now is a mid grade alarm I use no sensors only the door pin trigger, this assures you that if it goes off it is for real, not yet another false. Put the siren inside the car, trust me no-one will stay inside a car with one of those things going off. Get a good pager hooked up if you can, there a little pricey but worth it, that way you can beat the hell out of the little punk in your car.

How did you do the battery disconnect and ignition cut-off? I've been wanting to do that. Simple switch on the ignition wire underneath the dash?

Most alarms will have a out put for this, I’d just have it brake the feed to your coil, so the car turns over but of coarse with out a spark will never start. A hidden kill switch somewhere on the car is probable is cheapest and best defense against auto theft.
