Glendora Ridge Rd. is a perfect p-car road. Too bad I'm no longer in So Cal...that road was always my fave. Lots of twisties with few blind corners because it sits atop the ridge of course. Wish I could join you.

Alternative to Mt. Baldy
For those of you who are not going to do the Mt. Baldy run, I offer an alternative run up to Green Valley from Newhall (Santa Clarita) it could be the same day, or another weekend. The route is up San Francisquito Canyon where the St. Francis Dam failed in the 1930's you can still see HUGE chunks of the failed dam across the countryside. No CHP, no bicyclists, lunch at La Chene, a very nice french restaurant out in the middle of nowhere on Sierra Highway. There could be a photo op. at Vasquez Rocks, a really cool rock formation used in hundreds of Western movies, if you've never seen them. I would offer to do coffee and donuts at my place which is off the Calgrove exit of the 5 frwy just as you come into the Santa Clarita Valley.

I think Hugh's idea is great! Maybe August or September??? I have heard of concerns with the hot days in previous posts but as long as we start at 7-7:30am, we miss the traffic and the heat of the day.

I'm all for the San Francisquito Canyon run at another time.
However, I will probably miss it because the 7/10 is the last run for the Raggamuffin. Later that day, still smarting from the ardous slinging around corners and leaning precariously on the sidewalls, I will begin to drop the entire suspension to be replaced with a whole new combination of t-bars, sway bars, adjustable plates, shocks and bushings. With the cleaning and painting, welding reinforcements and the ususal unexpected, I see the car being off the road for the summer. Especially if the back ordered rockers ever show up. |

An Alternative:
The East San Diego Run ![]() There is a McDonalds and an Insurance office (Highly reccomended) The Run will start by crossing the boarder Follow the red line on the map and follow the signs for Rosarito via the Scenic Highway AKA the Toll Road. The Next leg will be to Run Down Highway 1 until we get to La Fonda The red line is the route down and the blue line is the route back. At La Fonda we will take off at 30 second intervals and run the old Highway 1 down to Ensenada. The Return Trip will be on the Toll Road back to La Fonda, where we will go back onto the old Highway to Puerto Nuevo. When we get to Ensenada, we will take the highway road Marked Mexico 1-D, which goes along the coast and directly to the Downtown area of Ensenada (About 2 miles). Once we're at "Papa's and Beer" we can decide whether to go there or to go across the street to "Hussongs"

I'll offer to do organize the San Francisquito run another time. I'm not taking my car to Mexico, and the drive out to Big Bear I can't do.
Have fun!!

why don't we shoot for an August Francisquito run? If we start at 7am sharp it should be plenty cool and be done by 10am or so, right?
Me no Mexico either. |

I think we all have a healthy respect for Murphy's Law, hence our reluctance to drive our P-cars to Mexico. Me no Mexico either...at least not without a crew of chase vehicles including a flatbead, panel van filled with parts, and a fuel truck!

Ok sorry it took me awhile. Here is what I have planned:
Start Location: King Ranch Market Address: 150 W 9th St, Azusa, CA 91702 Phone: (626) 969-1838 Opens at 6am We will meet in the parking lot at around 7am. We will leave the market at around 7:30am so there is an extra ½ hour in case you are running late. We will stop for photo shoots along the way and allow time for stragglers to keep up (shouldn’t be too hard in a Porsche.) I will pick up some name tags so you can identify yourself with your real name and your Pelican call sign. Disclaimer: This drive is for fun only and at your own risk. Any and all racing stunts are prohibited. Please follow all posted speed limits and obey all traffic laws. Please be careful and drive responsibly. ![]() ![]()
