Sounds and looks good, I'm going to try and make it.

If any other South Bay(ers) want to caravan up there let me know. I'm probably going to go 91->605->210...leaving around 6am (ish).

so it looks like from Baldy there is a choice to backtrack or head down Baldy Rd. into Claremont. That's a lot of mtn turns...make sure your passengers have taken their dramamine. Or maybe demerol.

I didn't get that one, Jack. Never mind. You can explain it to me up there.

The last map posted in the thread had a "$3.10 trip cost" listed at the bottom. I assume it means fuel costs, although I expect my mileage won't be as high as the computer is guessing.

My answers to several posts:

Baja would be a nice choice in good time.

The weather is looking good lows 80s for highs, thanks Sonic.

Jack, I would be happy to accept your $3.10, I can pick up a cup of Starbucks on the way. I will have to let you tell me what the actual mileage is as my odometer is still broken. It is on the list to fix.

What is the elevation at the destination? Looks like a cool route.

Once we get the the Mt Baldy area,we can fianally stop for a longer period and shoot the sheet and take more pics, etc. There is a lodge of some sort and it may be open for food. After that, we disperse. Going down Baldy road offers some more twisties and a couple of tunnels to hear your exhaust note. The road pretty much goes directly to the 210 or a little further to the 10.

It will be a heck of a lot easier than back tracking, I can tell you that for sure as last time I DID turn around and backtrack from about 10 miles from the lodge. I was all done with curves by the time I reached the ranger station in Azusa.

You can stop in Claremount which is a very pretty and historic place after coming down Baldy road.

I lived in Claremont for 4 years, so I know the lay of the land. Walters would be great for breakfast but I don't know what time they open.

84 Porsche and Zeke, thanks for the email. Man I wish I can go with you guys nextweek. Car's in the shop for a tranny job and a lower ring and pinion. Keep me posted on the next one. I'm new to this board. Do you guys go out and do these run often and is it usually posted? Look forward to meeting some of you people. Have a great 4th.

It's been awhile, but yes, there are runs sometimes 2 in a month. Seems that fall and winter months are more active in the local area, particularly the Santa Monicas. It's always posted.

Hey Zeke, I'll keep an eye out on the post. Can't wait til I go out and play. Was it you that said work was needed on the car and that you can't drive it for a bit? If it is, I hope everything goes well.

Jeff,

If you can get a ride to the location. You can probably hitch a ride through the mountains with one of the drivers while your car is in the shop. If you are interested, post a message to see who will have an empty passenger seat.

That changes daily. So far, I am managing to keep my hands off of it until after Saturday. I do have a problem with wheel balance. I took them to my hero balancer after Ca Speedway in April and he made them worse. First time that's happened and now he's playing games with me. I'm so pissed that I'm going to start balancing tires myself the old fashioned way (bubble balance and then a strobe). More on this on another thread soon.

So, I'm just gonna run my race tires this weekend.
