78targa, you are brilliant. What a simple solution, and what a teriffic result, to the problem of the "barbie pink" faded red heater knobs. Check out the photos below for my results. And it was easy as pie! Thanks so much...
Cheers, Adam

Sweet!
I'm glad it worked. Not a difficult project and you get great results with it. I did this 2 years ago and haven't had any fading or bleeding issues. It seems to be a pretty permanent solution. Take care.

How did you get them off the levers without breaking them?
I saw this tread in the nick of time I was just about to order some new ones.

One popped off with a really firm hand pull, the other I had to get an adjustable wrench and use it to pop off the bugger! Just keep pulling...it's that simple!
Cheers, Adam

Here are some pictures of the "rig" I built to dunk the handles while the fabric dye was soaking in. Note that I got the dye from Wal*Mart. Pretty easy stuff to find.
Looks like everyone is getting pretty good results with this. Here is the link that I had originally posted a few years back: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/show...highlight=knobs

For some strange reason, it didn't work when I tried it. Oh well.

Just finished my knobs, they came up perfect.
Quote:
I found a easy way to remove the knobs too. Use a hammer, the part of the hammer for pulling nails out. Mine woudn't budge, but the hammer they were off in 5 seconds. Thanks ascarswell for the thread

It's ingenous, but why not just buy new ones for $10?

I would if they were $10 in Australia, but they $40. And if I get them from the USA it ends up $40 with shipping.

I wish I had read that thread before I bought new ones from Pelican.
The new looks different from the original.
