Targa Tops @ 9700ft

That's a sweet shot. Nothing like a Cars and Coffee @ 9700ft.

Great thread. How about some pictures from the 2009 Escape to the Birthpace of Aviation?

Very nice. Aren't 964 Targas pretty rare?

Don't think I've ever seen one...

Thank you. There are not many of them around. Adrian Streather's book shows the US numbers are:

1990 - 158
1991 - 746
1992 - 211
1993 - 137
1994 - NA

There are supposed to be a handful of '94s around though. Mine is number 85 for '93. Not the last, but one of the last old school 911 Targas.

I've got a 964 Targa!

It's a tad smaller than yours...

eBay. It's an old 1/18 made by Anson. There was a 964 convertible as well, no coupes sadly. Prices vary but I wouldn't pay too much since the quality isn't great compared to the offerings from AutoArt or Minichamps. If you must have a 964 in 1/18 though, it's the only game in town.

I did hear that the 964 (965) Turbo is coming out in the new year, not sure who's doing it. It's apparently going to be a very nice diecast though so I'll be getting one!

Birth place of aviation??? That's not Kitty Hawk :-)

Here is a 71 I have just got back on the road, not quite ultimate YET, needs some suspension love over the winter.

Porsche Crest Sunroofs are for whimps....Targas are not.

Here's my little puppy. I've always been a convertible guy. First car; 1958 MGA, First new car, '73 MG Midget....35 mph. Sold it the next year for twice what I paid for it.... Remember the gas crisis? Even and Odd plates to buy gas..... .53 per gallon....worried it was going to get to a $1 per gallon.

PS. there's pelican member that has a quote that says "Say no to Targas" on his page.... we should over load his PM box with obsenities.....JUST Kidding...., He actually contacted me for parts and I almost felt like not selling any to him when I read that. GRRRRRRRRR.

OH and happy Holloween..... check out my accidental photo....spooky huh??? Engine case looks like a pumpkin.

Or perhaps all Targa owners change their "registered user" title to my title

My previous title of "Targas Rule, Coupes Dool" that is,

Here is my baby - 1985 Carrera Targa. I bought her in 1989 from a guy I knew. He put 60,000 on her and I have put on another 184,000. Total miles are 244,000. She has been sitting for a few years as I have too many cars. I got tired of neglecting her and I am starting to get her back in shape.

Original engine (valve job done at 200,000), original tranny, third alternator, targa top redone twice...not much else. Two mechanics her whole life. I just rebuilt the shift coupler and the shift bushings last week. No grinds or noise (no fast shifting either).

One hour ago she passed the smog test with flying colors. Taking her off NON OP to start to drive her again. She needs new tires...

Looking forward to getting her back into shape and putting more mile on her.

Well, I was able to get a few pretty good pics today
of my car. I still missed the magic hour, just as good
I didn't have my flash anyway. These will work for now
I think. LOTS of really nice cars here almost scared to
post mine, it does need a bit of work.

Mine's platinum metallic. A little more gold/bronze than yours, but similar.

Regards,

Jerry
