That is one fine looking 911! Looks like it just came off the assembly line.

You know what makes that car? It's the correct black horn grilles and black trimmed signal lights along with the black number plate. I would go for a non correct black Targa bar to go with the non correct black centered 16's.

that silver bar is what i like best about it,
those door handles also need to be back to chrome, but i'll get other things sorted out first, them chrome handles ain't cheap as for the fuchs , i polished the center caps for contrast, and it works pretty good : ![]() the front isn't in the right height yet, car needs alignment after having been taken apart that door alignment is one of the things that bugs me a little it opens and closes , but you can see the sill in that pic it's like 1 mm to high in the back, but that's a pita to align properly

Very nice pictures, Stijn, and that car is another classic saved from the junkyard... At first I was upset at those Dutch license plates (I KNOW you are not Dutch, bro!) but, as Zeke wrote, the long Dutch plates, together with that black "old" color (luckily they are not the "normal" yellow plates!), befit your 911 very nicely. I know we are getting closer to the day we will ride our cars together, looking forward to that!
It is a comfort to know that at your 5000 rpm, mine will only arp 4000 or so ![]() ![]()

I really like the color black on the early cars. Your car looks great. I can truly appreciate your impatience, heck I bought the second one cause I was too impatient to wait for the 1st to be completed. The third one just needs the carbs rebuilt, but I am trying to convince myself not to start two projects at once.

hell Paul , i don't have a belt ! my minibeer belly keeps my pants up
![]() ![]() and they are loud and proud ![]() cassidyp , i got me a 924 to get me through the winter time it also gave me some headaches, but at least i was mobile in a P-car like codeine cough syrope for a smack junkie i guess, not the real thing but it get's you through the day Ed. the black plates are indeed the biznez, they just add to the overal style of the car, instead of the usual yellow uglies that just hurt the eyes also helps identifying the old timers , oldtimers are all around in holland, and they all flash, so if the 996'es won't flash , there's always somebody who appreciates a black number plate great mentality towards oldtimer cars in holland ( i'll probably be sick to my stomach now , complimenting something dutch but i'll risk it ![]()

it was in some sort of metallic black when i bought it ,
and i asked the painter to do in in similar black he came up with Porsche colour "Metallic Schwarz" form 79-84 or something not an original 73 factory color ( the car was fushia brown when it was originally delivered ) not identical , he said some thing about less brown in it, and it certainly looks better than the other black, more alive got to go back for some buffing, couple of drips in the clearcoat , and a scratch ...i'll ask him the exact numbers of the mix

there's very little stock on my car, so not correct ain't wrong
according to the records from porsche 911 S fushia brown brown leatherette sports seats and interior ATS 15inch rims now : metallic black (metallic blue before that) black interior recarro seats ( old , but doubt they were the 72 ones) missing oil cooler ( it should have one ) engine number is in the range of the 73 911s targa but it's not the number on the original papers missing S trim ( but i'll keep it like that ) 7J16 fuchs (one ATS spare left ) already removed the flapper boxes and heating stuff ( headers to replace SS HE's soon) so not a concours car, couldn't care less, it will have mild bastard factor and i like it that way, i want to keep it almost as is, except some little mods here and there things i plan / hope to do - SS HE out > headers in ( MFI modification to figure out for cold start/warm running adjustment ) - front oil cooler, with lines through the old warm air pipes ( hidden ) - Brake cyllinder with power braking from later type ( improve pedal sensitivity, for safety ) - figure out a way to use the oil cooler as a cabin heat radiator (maybe a little detour of the lines to the smuglers box, little radiator there and a fan ) - install a proper fuse box, and clean up electricals in the trunk anything that makes the car more practical, without changing the major things like looks / engine / tranny / interior style

Stijn,
Why would you want to loose the HE's? It seems to me that there is not that much to be gained in the weight loss department. Also, in our climate a little heat is very welcome. Very nice pics btw.

i agree, the weight loss thing isn't the issue
but i do want a front oil cooler and i definately do no want the external oil lines other considerations - i can close off the air hose from the engine > what the fan blows is used for cooling and cooling only - them HE's , although nice and shiny , are a PITA if i wanna do something on the engine - cleaner engine bay - 2 steps less work for an engine drop - the HE way of transferring heat to the front , ain't the most efficient way, a radiator should be just as efficient , if not more ( i can get a cable from the heater lever to the heating radiator, maye put a valve in there to bypass it when not needed) it's not a final plan , and won't happen in the first 6 months but i'm pretty convinced that it would work and suit my purpose

I have a front cooler and internal oil lines, but this was standard on a 1970S. For the T I have bought the external oil lines, not the most elegant way of plumbing it, but better than nothing.
You could probably get some kind of setup from a water cooled car, they us a seperate radiator in most cases. Interesting job though of getting it all connected and working.

were stock coolers with internal lines? didn't know about that.
i've been all over my car the last year , but haven't found any traces of internal lines anywhere, so i assumed all S'es had em on the outside like i've seen on so many pics... i figure that hot engine oil should be hot enough to radiate plenty of heat up front for my cabin heat, and while the plumbing of the oil cooler lines are close to the smuglers box, the detour shouldn't be too long

one of the things i'm not sure about :
what kind of cooler , front or fender depending on that decision where do i run the oil lines , both on the right or one going to the front in the right air tube one returning in the left tube the big loop has the advantage of drying out the air tubes , that would be good for anti rust reasons...
