Pardon the editorial, but the expression "frame off restoration" bothers me. At one time the term was "body off". It seems to me you remove the body from the frame, not the frame from the body (except for unibodies where neither is possible).

Is that motor correct for a '76 912? Sorry, but I really don't know.

I actually took a brief look at this car last weekend, and it is in really good shape. I have talked to the guys who run this operation, and they are "stand-up" guys.
Anyway do not blame for the ebay errors, as they themselves do not list the cars. The last person I met whom did all of the listings was a younger guy who worked part time and occasionally washed/ported the cars. __________________

Milages on car...
"This car has 11,795 original miles on it and looks the part of its newer counterparts" and lower is a pic of the gauge with 110,795 miles. There is a slight difference. |

I visited these guys once also, they have some interesting cars around, a beck spyder last time I was there. I looked at a silver SC that looked a heck of a lot better in pics then in person, but I agree with JCC911 that they are stand up guys...when I was there he tossed the keys of a Ferrari Mondial to a guy and basically let him have it for the weekend.
Hey JCC where in Milwaukee are you? I grew up there... Adam

Adam,
These guys are pretty nice and trust worthy, if anyone has ever had a complaint, they will go out of their way to fix it. I have dealt with these guys on and off for over two years. Telling them that I was going to buy, then getting cold feet. Anyone else, would have either shot me or permanently banned me form their place. It is just that I am very picky as to what I buy, and that did not discourage them. I do feel bad that I did not buy my first 911 from them, but I came across a deal that I could not pass and no one could beat. Anyway, not knowing me from the next guy, they too would let me take out whatever car I wanted for a spin. One day a car they wanted to sell me was at their other storage facility and he told me how to get there, how to get in and where the keys were hidden. Talk about trust!, and he did not come with me or take my license. Most if not all of thier cars come out of Cali and they are usually some good finds. Mechanically they are very sound, with the worst issues being the cars paint has faded. (Oh yeah, I am in no way offiliated with this company, I just respect the way they run their business.) AS for Milwaukee, I am on the Northwest edge of the city, off of Grandtosa Ave. In the next few weeks I will be moving to Brookfield.

Funny ads but decent cars and guys....
You're right paint seems to be the biggest issue with their cars. Brookfield's nice, good luck, I grew up in Glendale...was just there for 4th of July, the best time of year in Milwaukee as far as I'm concerned!

Yeah,
You are right, the weather is usually decent, Summerfest, Brewers baseball, etc. The summer is the only good time here, unless you have Packer tickets ![]()

Hey yoose guys!!!
Anybody for a few hands of Sheepshead ? I went to Dental school @ Marquette in Milwaukee during the Al McQuire years. Buddies still in Elm Grove (Milwaukee) and Menomonee Falls and Yes....Green Bay. BTW: I played in the Donald Driver charity golf deal in Houston a few weeks ago, and won a weekend for two in Green Bay for a Packer game next season. Don't know which game, but I hope it's damn cold !! Never been to Lambeau Field. Going Muskie fishing in Northern Wisc. in mid Sept..........and a few days of Sheepshead. tim '95 C-4 Cab (that is getting driven quite a bit harder thanks to you"ll) |

Tim,
Boy there sure are a lot of Sheepshead players around here. I was caught up in the madness for a while, but the moment has passed. Ah good times. You wouldn't happen to know a Dr. Gronemeyer would you. He was my dentist, but I am not sure when he graduated. I too had aspirations, studied hard, took the DAT, but when it came to applying at Marquette, i never did. Not sure why, but it was always something I wanted to do. Now I feel too old. Anyway, Lambeau is a blast. The feeling of awe, tradition, ad history you receive when walking through the gates will give you more than goosebumps. The people there are really nice and hospitable, and just love their team. (Not out for a fight like those in Philly, no offense to anyone, I just have heard stories and I get to go there this Dec. 5). You are in for a really good time! I too meet D. Driver last year and he is a pretty cool guy. Have Fun at the game! Oh. PS if for some terrible reason that you can make the game, contact me and I will buy them off of you. ![]()

Ah, the 912E,,,,truely the lowest ba$tard of all Porschedom.....a 911 body, using a special 915 trans (923?) that works with ONLY a Type IV motor...a 2.0 engine left over from the 914s using the fuel injection found ONLY on the 1,8s made in 74 and 75.....unique sheet metal ONLY found on this one year as well as the specially designed Heat exchangers and smog equipment....
Until this year the model was going get a break on smog inspections in CA....THEN,,,,,they passed a law repealing CAs rolling 30 year smog check exemption....the Governator MAY not sign it....but it is truely screwed once again if it does go into law....... Poor little P-Car....gets more crap than the 914..... ![]()

Mike:
You are right. I misinterpreted. So much for the hope of getting a galvanized body to modify it into a street legal track car. That 912 E is reason enough to keep the current law. LOOK at that engine. It is horrid! ![]() Here the info from this http://info.sen.ca.gov/pub/bill/asm/ab_2651-2700/ab_2683_cfa_20040625_152952_sen_comm.html source ... This bill would repeal the rolling 30-year exemption from the smog check program. Specifically, the bill: 1.Declares the Legislature's intent that vehicles of the 1975 model year and older (1974, 1973, etc.) shall be permanently exempted from smog check requirements and to ensure that the Departments of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and Consumer Affairs be afforded adequate time to implement the bill's requirements. 2.Repeals the exemption for vehicles 30 years old or older from vehicle maintenance and inspection programs, effective April 1, 2005. 3.Continues the exemption from smog check program provisions for vehicles that were manufactured prior to the 1976 model year (1975 model year and older), effective April 1, 2005. 4.Makes corresponding changes to related provisions. |

That engine is a 2.0 that is a really strong engine for what it is, a pushrod flat 4. That same "horrid" engine you mention here was used in the 914 that took TTOD at parade. ![]()
