I just bought a 1994 3.6 turbo and had a 60,000 mile service done but the idle speed is at 1200 rpm, with a/c on it's 980 rpm
I think it should be 950-980 RPM but it's real consistant so i think no cable problems. Does anyone know what to do except take the car back to 60,000 mile service guy who lives 12 hours away? Thanks Stacy |

My 93 3.6 turbo(23000 km) idles @1200 rpm when start cold in the morning, afterwards it stays around 950 rpm, and with A/C ON, drops to around 800-850 rpm.....

My 92 Turbo idles at about 900 when warm and about 1200 when cold but only for about 20-30 seconds before it settles down to normal idle.
The idle speed adjustment screw is at the front of the throttle body which sits under the intercooler. I use a 12-14" flathead screwdrivers to reach it. Start with small adjustments like 1/4 turns. If that makes no change to the idle speed then you know you have to start down the diagnostics road. There are a lot of good CIS guys on this board. I'm not one of them :-)
