remove both vac lines to time a 1980?

I'm just fine tuning and will be rechecking my timing. Bentley isn't specific...do I remove both vac lines from the distributor before timing to Z1 at about 950 rpm with the engine warm?

Thanks, Graham

Yes I believe you do remove both lines. But I think you want to set total advance at 4k rpm. Then you check the idle advance.

both hoses off, turn down idle to 950, set timing to spec, reattach hoses and reset idle speed.
