83SC Throttle Linkage problem

I am completly ignorant when it comes to Porsches, but I am desperatly trying to learn. This forum has been a wealth of knowledge and I am indeed greatful to have found it. I have had my 83 SC Cab for about six years. Luckily it had not given me many problems so I have not become very familiar with working on it. This is the first Porsche I have owned so all of this is still new to me. I have had the car in storage at my sister's house for the past three years. A couple of weeks ago I attempted to resurrect my vehicle. I put in fresh fluids, replaced the battery, etc.. and now I was ready to turn the engine over. I turned the key and depressed the accelerator wait for the magic to happen.
Well when I pressed the accelerator pedal, the pedal went to the floor and did not return. The throttle did not seem to open any. I examined the throttle linkage inside the car and from what I could see it all look intact. I opened the rear hatch and the linkage seemed firmly attached at the engine also. I assume that something has given way underneath the car, but that is just a guess at this time.
I have seen several articles and threads about the throttle coupler failing so I was excited thinking this might be a realativly cheap and easy fix. I do not know if this is the problemor not now because it looks like all cars after 74 have the improved coupling with the metal sleeve. I assume that my car should also have the metal sleeve so I should still have some throttle linkage.
I hope to go work on the car again this weekend but I would like some guidanve as to where I should look for a potential problem.

crawl under and look at the cable where it exits the center tunnel - check each side - and see if you really have the metal can....

No cables. Your throttle linkage is a series of rods. The rods connect with kind of ball-and-socket coupling. there are three or more at the engine. One or two under the car. Another couple under the pedal.

Wow! Three responses in 30 minutes. You guys are as quick as your cars. Thanks for the insight. I will try to crawl underneath it this weekend and see what I can find. The linkage by the pedal looked fine (as much of it as I could easilly see). Are the other linkage points fairly easy to access once the car is jacked up?

Yes. Put it on jack STANDS and use the jack, or a big piece of timber as a safety stop (so your chest won't be). When you and your flashlight are at the tunnel exit, have a helper push down on the go pedal and see what happens. Also have them move the engine throttle and see what happens there. The throttle rod to the engine is the fancy coathanger with the loop in the end.
