Not to belabor the point but while the engine pulls longer the net gain is more like 12 hp overall and not 22. Torque is more like 10 and not 18 as shown.

It is obvious that your chip is an improvement over the stock maping. But the real gains are all below 6K. Why not show the graph and realistic number gains with real percentages instead of posting the the most skewed to your benefit on the graph? Your HP isn't even measured at the same RPM from how you have marked the graph on the dyno. Looks to be 61 and 62 being used as a comparison.

How about a stock chip at 6K and yours at 6200? Not as favorable of a comparison then. But just as realistic as the %s you have posted and highlighted.

I would also like to know what was done besides replacing the chip. Tuneup perhaps with the new chip? I always start asking questions when I see numbers being quoted that really don't tell the whole story.

Well, that's why the whole graph is posted. The point at 6200 is just a comparison data point, but anyone can look and figure out the differential at whatever rpm point he so chooses. There's nothing hidden here. I suppose composing something like an Excel tabulation would be a different way of comparing the data. Anyways this is an entirely different subject, and I should probably create a new thread about it instead of hijacking this one. Look for the details in an upcoming thread.

When I first got my SC it had ok power. But I am a turbo guy so I put a 930 motor in my car. That was the single best thing that I did to my car. It made my Porsche go like it should.
Dean, what tail is that? It doesnt look like a 930 one in the pics - just wondering whether you managed to get a IC under the std lid?

oh, er, sorry, to keep OT, i swapped the cat/oe muffler for a euro pre muff and dansk sports muffler - gained about 14hp - try a search, the dyno run is around somewhere amongst the threads.

dean,

thanks. what do you mean? a 930 base with a carrera tail?

that would be good. if i ever get round to installing a turbo i would do that - i dont like the 930 tail on a narrow body. jmho.

Check out the air/fuel ratio's at the bottom of the graph. That tells you about 99% of what you need to know about horsepower and torque production. The stock chips burn way too rich.

Rich,
It is an aftermarket tail. It is made by BB and I bought it from Tweeks. It is a Carrera style but it has a big base. So it actually looks like the one piece RSAmerica tail, only with a bigger base.
