new oil change technique

crossposted from the OT board...too funny just to stay there. Guy can't get the drainplug off his new SRT...soooo:

"HA! I got the oil out without taking the nut off. My car probably hates me now though. I just unscrewed the oil filter and turned the car on. Makes a mess because oil sprays everywhere, but I got the **** out of the car. Filled it up with mobile one and yeah."

I don't want to be on the same road as him the day he tries to change his brake fluid
(probably by drilling holes in the brake lines and driving until it's all out)

I was listening to Car Talk on PBS one day, and a guy called in to say he always hosed up the plug on a Subaru, and he was in disagreement with his friend on whether his technique (the same thing) would harm the car. He said it was just for a "few seconds". After Click & Clach had a good laugh, they told him to quit or NEVER change the oil, as that would definitely be better. I was amazed at how stupid people can be. Why not just take it to Quick-Lube for $25 if they have this much ineptitude?

isnt it easier just to drill a hole in the oil tank and somehow find a way to plug it up later?

Cool

It's a guy thing.

My sister said one day, "That's the last time I'll ever have something to do with a guy that doesn't know anything about cars!"

Some guys think because its a car, they know how to work on it!

It's some sort of hormone thing.

Hey, what's the big deal...

after all we all saw the ad where they took an engine filled with Mobile 1 and one with dino, drained the oil from both and ran them till they seized... we KNOW the Mobil 1 engine lasted longer.

I just LOVE the irony that he's putting freakin' Mobile 1 in! Spending all the extra cash for the premium sythetic but running the motor dry to do it!

Heck yeah!

BTW - spent too much time reading responses on that one, but reminds me of one little thing:

Thank the Porsche gods for mostly-civil-minded forums like this one!

Add to it, this guy says he has changed his oil 7 times in the last 15,000 miles!

I need his budget!
