old silver color, can anyone help me find the paint code for this?

I am working on chosing a color for painting an older 911. I'd like to use the color on this car. Any ideas?

That is a modified 64 or 65 356C. Unless it was a custom color, that is not a stock color for these years according to my Porsche Color Chart. However, previous years had a color - "Silver Metallic" code 6206 that looks pretty close to that.

sure, you should be able to get that. Check Stoddards - they carry the original German Glasurit.

936 was the code for VW Silver Metallic. I dont know if its the same color as the 356 above.

Enter POR for the Manufacture code

Enter 6206 for the Colour code and Start Query

You will then get the paint formulation for 2 different types of paint. Click on the 55 or 90 to get the exact formulation. Then see what the difference is between the two forumations.

I can't say for sure looking a color on the screen, but that 356 looks like it has no blueish cast to it. More yellow. That is my favorite color and I would paint my car that silver if it weren't for the tan interior. The colors clash.

This is the color I looked for when I painted the 914. No blue. When you see all the colors in the book, you will see what I mean. I almsot had it right on the 914, but not quite. One thing to look for too, is the coarseness of the metallic. The real nice German metallics are the finest grind I have ever seen. This goes a long way towards having a great looking car.

a friend says a VW silver is the correct match for the '67S he is restoring


also check out the modern PAG colors Polar Silver (bluish) and Artic Silver (yellowish or warm cast)

Best bet might be to have a guy with the computerized photocell thingies "read" some paint that has been out of the sun....
