Hey Kevin,

It is my understanding that the CS has the same short shift that anyone else can order for the G50. While I admit it has been a while since I have driven a G50 without it, I thought that the "paltry" difference was quite noticeable...... just my 02 cents.

As for how the parts compare, I cannot comment on that....never had it apart to compare to a stock one.

Thanks Craig. Wasn't sure if I was missing something or not.

I'm not making it up though. I got the CS/M 243 (shorter gear shift lever) and was a little disappointed to put both side-by-side and find the only difference was the shortened handle @ the top where the knob goes. The pivot/fulcrum points are exactly the same as the standard shift handle. Incidentally, the bases (the part of the handle @ the arrow) have the same casting number.

Didn't mean to come across as rude by calling it a paltry (I was going to call it measly........ ) 3/4 inch. But for what the factory M243 handle cost, I was pretty disappointed. Hence the word paltry.

I imagine one could make the shifter shorter by cutting down the bottom of the stem? It's only pressed into the base and secured with a pin. I think the bottom is mostly uniform in cross section. The top would be more of a pain to cut since the top is drilled, notched, and tapered to accept the OE Porsche knob.

No problem Kevin.....I didn’t take it as being rude at all. Thanks for the diagram/info. I'm actually amazed that the M243 is only a shorter lever....seems ridiculous.

I looked at the Club Sport "Technik" and could not find any other data on the short shift. In fact, the M243 is not even listed in the Technik. I looked up the original R & T and it stated "the lever has been shortening to quicken throws".....seems to echo what you said.

Maybe the difference is all in my mind Maybe it's because I get used to driving my 78 SCarerra with who know how many miles on the 915 and then take my 26k mile CS out for a blast !
