Passed emissions (Steve W chip/premuff)-headers here I come!
I took my car in today for inspection 90 days ahead of registration being due. My goal was to get the emissions out of the way so I can put my new headers on this weekend. I've got a Steve W chip, and a Fabspeed pre-muffler, so I wasn't sure what to expect.
It was close, but I did make it. It was kind of funny, 'cuz the guy was saying that my cat converter was wearing out, and he figured next year it would be no good, and I'd fail. Although, he did say the S/S exterior of the cat looked nice ![]() The whole time, I'm pretty amazed a 20 year old car with 120K on the motor, with modified ignition and no catalytic converter can pass the more stringent emissions of today. Now, I'm hoping next year that they'll buy my story that the headers have dual integral catalytic converters-the square parts there at the bottom- Yeah, that's the ticket!

Good to know! i already have the Steve W chip and planning to get the fabspeed cat-bypass, so hopefully i'll get the same results when mine gets inspected. Though, i plan on putting the fabspeed sport muffler on too, i wonder if that will make a difference??? Thanks for the info!

I don't think a muffler would effect emissions. For what it's worth, I've got a dual out Mille Miglia sport muffler on now.

Ed -
My Euro 3.2 is chipped and running with straight headers and no cat. It's passed emissions each of the last two years by de-tuning it just before the test and then putting things back again. We pulled the Euro DME and put in a stock US DME and leaned things out. It barely passes and can barely run in that state, but it does pass. When my townhouse at MSR is finished in January I am going to register the car at that address. Apparently the counties out there are a little more relaxed and don't even require admissions testing at all, just a safety inspection.

jakermc: You bought one of those! My wife and I have looked on the website, those look so cool, and are priced attractively. I've not been down there in a while, are there any built yet?
She really wants to move into a condo or townhouse, but I'd lose the 3 car garage and I don't want to live downtown. MSR would solve both issues, and we really liked the floorplan (no kids). The only problem with the MSR deal is the location being a little inconvenient. I'm signed up for the DE in Oct, I'm going to pay good attention to time/distance on the trip down.

I have Lot #11 reserved (check out the site plan on the web) and plan on building the 2 master bedrom/6 car garage model and will install two lifts. We are going to keep the house in Plano and crash at the Ranch when I'm there for member weekends. During DE's, I'll rent the place out and will also rent out 3 spots in the garage on a permanent basis.
I think from Highland Village, its about an hour drive for you. MSR is also about 40 minutes or so from Ft. Worth. I haven't been to Granbury, about 10 minutes away, but I hear its a cute town. The thought of rolling out of bed on a Saturday or Sunday, doing a 1/2 hour session or two, and being home 30 seconds later to watch college football should be worth any inconvenience. ![]() Rob
