Need the light insert for a '70 pullout dash knob
O.K., guys I'm getting a little esoteric here, but try to work with me!
On both the rear defrost and foglight knobs on the dash, when you pull them out there is a tiny light that illuminates in the center of the knob. This light works by illuminating a little tiny plastic piece (1/8 inch wide, about one inch long) that inserts into the center of the axle that the knob screws onto. So here's my question: Who has an extra one of these little plastic pieces? They are clear, with a little colored dot on the end. Anybody out there have one they can throw my way? Best regards to all. Rob

Rob,
I don't have one nor have I actually seen one, but judging from your description it sounds like an early example of fiberoptics. Maybe a piece of plastic from a hobby shop or your local plastics supplier can substitute. You may be able to color the end w/ a marker (alcohol base) or some paint used by hobbiests to simulate stained glass, or even find a colored piece of translucent plastic (like acrylic).
