Anyone recognize this style cooler...only 20 tubes...not 28.

Is this a Euro Porsche cooler that can be used the same as the 14 row 28 tube cooler? Anyone recognize what car this is originally from?

It only has 10 rows and is a 20 tube cooler. Does it have the same oil capacity as the 28 row?

Is it a stock Porsche part? Will it fit in the front wheel well of my '77 911... and attach to the auxilliary oil lines running forward to my trombone?

Any input would be appreciated ASAP.

Is there any thread that talks about what will be required to properly attach this in a rt. side wheel well that now only has a trombone cooler?

Thanks.

Joe in Santa Barbara

Joe,

It looks like the cooler I have in my 77 body. The parts dismantler who sold it to me said it was from a European turbo, but I have never verified that. It fits fine.

Paul,

Your cooler only has 20 tubes...not 28?

Did you have to fabricate special mounts to get it to attach or are there factory parts available?

Thanks for responding.

It has only 20, in 2 rows of 10.

My mechanic installed it for me about 10 yr ago and he had a steel bracket lying around that he used to hold it in place. I don't know where he got the bracket. I don't think it was from a Porsche cooler.

Does anyone have a photo of the mounting system used to secure their brass cooler? Joe has asked me but I can't get one for him.

If you have one, please post it.

It has 28...

Look in between the two rows of ten...they are there.

I'm 100% sure.

That looks like the cooler I have on my 84 Carrera. US Spec and all factory original. Didn't they use this cooler for just one year before going to the 28?

Have one just like it. Salvaged it from a 80 SC in Berlin Germany for a spare and never used it... Believe that the US versions are the same but not sure.

Porsche Crest

First off...thanks for all the pictures and input.

Are the stock factory brackets available to have welded(?) or bolted to the inner fender at bottom and the fender at the top? I think there is supposed to be a bracket at the top, but I don't know if it attaches to the back of the headlight bucket or the underside of the fender.

The only brackett I have is the one that the horn trumpets attach to which bolts to the inner fender panel in front of the bottom of the "trumpet cooler" I currently have. The trumpet cooler has a simple bolt-on bracket at the bottom attached to the inner fender panel. Can the horn bracket I have be used somehow for the bottom mount for the "row cooler" if repositioned? I think I also need new brackets to reposition and remount the horn trumpets.

Is the bracket kit that I think I have seen available to mount the newer style Carrera/930S "radiator cooler" also correct for the row cooler?

Anyone out there have any of the brackets I will need? Do they bolt on or do they weld on? If they weld on only, can they be removed from wrecked donor fenders and then rewelded onto mine? Any leads on these bracket parts will be appreciated.

Thanks for any input on mounting technique and available bracket parts.
