Spacers
Hi guys,
I'm looking into getting some spacers for my wheels as the car has an after market widebody that is actually slightly wider than the factory's, (or so I'm told). What is the optimal fit for wheel/tire to the body? Should the outer-most edge of the tire be flush with the edge of the wheel well? Or is the rim that should be flush? (meaning the wheel would be a bit further out) So far I'm thinking 1.5 inches would move the fuchs' out nicely from their factory positions. Also, is ebay generally the best price for these things? They seem to be around $230 canadian or $180 US a pair for 1.5 inchers. Kinda steep! Can they be found for less? Thanks guys, Nix

I think you need 1 1/4" front and 2" or 2 1/4" rear.
about e-bay you can find good deals there but first check the Used Parts Classifieds on this BBS and rennlist

Use the slip on type spacers and replace your studs with longer ones....don't be tempted to use the spacer/adapters that have pressed in studs....a little more expensive and time consuming but safer.

Hmm, I thought all spacers that were past a certain size all had the pressed in studs? So I should get longer studs and plain, no stud spacers? I suppose this sounds safer than having 2 sets of studs bearing the weight.
Anybody have any close up pics of a nice looking offset to wheel well position? Thanks, Nix

You don't say what wheels you have. Skinny wheels just don't look right on a widebody, even if spaced properly. It's a shame not to put all that space to good use. But nomatter what wheel size you have the long stud and spacer setup allows you to put the wheel exactly where you want it because you can use whatever size spacer you wish.

I have 11" x 18" rears on my factory turbo-look Cab and I reckon I could have gone 12" wide rims to fill out the wells nicely.
I'm going to fit a pair of 1" rear spacers on mine to achieve just that.
