WTF ????? What did he say ?

304065 11-12-2004 05:40 AM

He said he thinks the rear springplate system is a great product and attractively priced, considering that it is a complete system. He would like to know when the product will be generally available so he can buy it.

As would I.

lateapex911 11-12-2004 05:49 AM

Thanks John! Thats exactly what I meant, though I was in a rush, and didn't check for typos. "Palte" should obviously be "plates"!

"Short money" is a broker phrase for "good value"....IIRC.

A buddy of mine with a YAK is talking about going up to the cool airport for burgers near Rhinebeck Sunday...I might hitch a ride. He's a 911 dude...with a '72E, I think. Do you get up and out in the Citabria much??

304065 11-12-2004 05:57 AM

Jake, the Citabria is currently AOG (Aircraft-on-Ground) for maintenance. Might be working on Sunday, though, and the weather is supposed to be VFR.

I assume your pal is talking about Sky Acres Airport (44N)?

http://www.airnav.com/airport/44N

What kinda Yak? I assume a Yak-52, the aerobatic type?

lateapex911 11-12-2004 06:11 AM

As I recall, in my last ride I viewed the ground from a number of different angles through the glass, including directly over my head. Acrobatic indeed!

Thats the spot...couldn't recall the name when I saw your first post!

Kurt,

Sorry I could not take your call, we were in the midst of an experiement that could not be interrupted.
My issue is manufacturing resource....our existing vendors are maxed out with other product, we are trying to develop solutions for a number of new and forthcoming projects. This includes the G50 shifter.

In answer of your question regarding knob position, we will have a billet and a fabricated lever available - both are bolted to the lower assembly - allowing interchangeability. The fabricated one lends itself to custom versions, alternate bend angles and length.

I will place your details in G50 shifter file and make sure you are contacted when we have an ETA on components.

Regards

Hayden

JP,

The Brakes test is going well.
The initial road tests were followed by a race weekend of testing, accumulating ~ 3hrs competition level work out. This included one pole position and two race wins (neither of which can be attributed to the brakes, but demonstrate the intensity level which they are being tested at)
The test set is now back on my car and will get another 4 hours track time this weekend.
The plan is then to install them on a car for the NASA 25hr race here in Norcal on Dec 4th/ 5th.

Assuming we make it through that testing without issue, we will be ready to make an assessment based on commercial aspects, with the technical aspects adequately tested for the intial phase.

So that is the current news, probably not exactly what you wanted to read, but for a complex project, I believe we are progressing steadily.

Regards

Hayden

Thanks for the details Hayden, please do keep me in the G-50 contact list as well.

Cheers,
Chris

Lateapex / John_Cramer,

We are having trouble getting bids to have the splined sections manufcatured economically.

We have seen a couple of options so far, neither of which for their excessive cost, gave us equity in tooling, which would have made the extra cost acceptable.

I am pleased the value of this system has been recognized, the pricing is aggressive, given the parts count and complexity of the product, but it seemed critical to be at the price point we suggested to encourage this as a viable option to the 4 alternate soltions we can see.

We are working through the final issues with production manufacture, but in the mean time the test units (testing since Memorial day) continue to accumulate test miles and perform flawlessly.

Regards

Hayden

Hayden, thanks for the most honest reply, although it was disappointing.

Fortunately, we are approaching winter here! UN-fortunately, that is also the time projects like this are started!

Well, I will expand my garage instead, and hope for a late winter release!

PS...keep testing the brakes! LOL

Hayden invited me to ride shotgun in his car at this weekends SDR PCA Streets of Willow TT. He was testing his new Disc brake kit that can fit inside 15 inch rims. I have Turbo brakes on my 911 track car and let me tell you even with his narrow body car on DOT track tires the stopping power was awesome. Lap after lap he brought it down from over 100mph into a 30mph second gear turn with amazing stopping force. I was pinned against the 6 point harness lap after lap. Thanks for the ride Hayden, very impressive!:) Great driving too, you certainly out ran several cars with bigger engines and wider tires!

Yeah Hayden's car . products and driving skills are awesome

Hayden:
Is there an update on the spring plates?

Have these questions been answered? Interested minds want to know.

All the details on the roller bearings can be found here...he is the guy who sells them.

Yes the G50 shifter is ready for production. One test unit has about 15,000 miles and remains rattle free, smooth and precise.
Potential rattles were my chief concern, as the owners of the newer cars are more concerned with NVH.
This was another product ready for launch at the GAF, but we did not have the manufacturing resource available to bring it on line before the show.

Thanks for the interest, the G50 shifter is now due to be a pre Christmas launch.

Hayden,
How are we lookin at this point ? Im ready and willing to order it (G50 shifter) now . If still not available , do you know when ? Should I look into the fabcar unit ? Do you feel yours is worth waiting for ?
Im also going to order some engine mounts too . I was hoping to place the whole order at once .

Pretty much sums up this thread. You gotta actually drive them to believe the difference.

YES! --it's about time.

I suggested just this type of solution back in 2002 ! ... on Chucks first Bronze Bushing thread.

shoulda listened. ..

Where's my royalty check?

I'm also interested in an update on the G50 shift mech.

Thanks.
