How to tell if a short shift kit is installed?

How do I tell if a short shift kit is installed on my '73?

Is there a dimension I can measure on the shift rod?

If second gear is not rubbing your seat, it is installed.

re Feel

Well, I've never driven one w/o a short shift kit (only the 3rd 911 I've driven and 2nd I've owned). Also, it is not a 915 trans. - the shift tower is for a 915, but the trans is a 1970-71 911 ("901") type.
