HELP - What did I break??

I was cleaning the wheel wells and I reach underneath the passenger side and I find an obliterated hose but I have no idea what it is for. I reach in to touch the hose and it just caked away. Is it essential? It is to the left of the oil cooler looking in. Any ideas??

That's just the gasket around the cooler. It's purpose is to keep aior going through the cooler, not around it. No biggy.

Those gaskets are about $70, but there are alternatives. A search ought to bring something up.

Those short hoses are kind of difficult to replace but at least they aren't too expensive [$25 or so ea from our host]. Mine were leaky as are yours, but a little cleaning and a couple of new hoses and all is fine . . .

Thanks for the help guys. I will have to add that to my list of things to repair. I am finding more everyday but with 180,000 plus miles, some of this is expected.

Don't bother replacing the gasket unless you just can't stand how it looks. It's not a critical piece and I bet you won't see a difference on your oil temp if you change it.

It also looks like your oil lines have been leaking for quite a while.....
