warm up regulator hose question

Hi pelicans,

Can someone identify hose number 61 from the pic below. Can you perhaps also tell me what the function of this hose is (is it carring return fuel to the injector). Reason I am asking is, it looks cracked all the way and wonder if I can replace with the engine in the car

Thanks,

Gerko

You're right. That's a return line to the fuel distributer.
You can do this with the engine in. But be ready for some cussing.
A mirror will help as well and don't drop the little metal seal/gasket.
My lines are metal. 83ROW but it has the same setup.
If you get real frustrated remove the rear motor mount bolts and drop the back of the engine about 3-4 inches while watching the wires and hoses carefully. Thay will get you more room. Also a florecent light shoved back in that cornet will help without burning your knuckles.
Have fun!

BTW do you have a ROW parts book? How about a shop manual.
We can't get a lot of details on our ROW cars here.
It would be nice to get a cross reference from ROW part numbers to Bosch part numbers. It's been done on renlist for US parts but not ROW.

That's what it is. It's easy to replace w/ flexible lines w/ the engine in the car.. There are quite a few threads on replacing the semi rigid nylon lines as a DIY project. I am planning on doing this line that way eventually to match the rest of the fuel lines.. In the mean time I am using a 300 psi rated flexible line that Wurth makes c/w hose clamps and it is doing fine. You can get the crush washers @ the dealer.

What type of line do you have? Are you sure the line is cracked, or is is just an outer cover?

Paul, that's what I was thinking too. These plastic hoses have a rubber sheath that protects them from chaffing, maybe it's just the cover is cracked?

If anyone has a common local source for this nylon tubing, please post it as I'm needing to do this also. Actually any source of the nylon would be helpful. Thanks!

Thanks for all your replies so far,

Indeed all the lines, on my car, from the fuel distributor to the injectors and the wur are from nylon with a rubber shell. The rubber shell was already completely detiorated so I removed the rubber. Just left some rubber at the places where they go through the mounting brackets (thought that was the only reason there was rubber arround it in the first place, to protect the nylon from rubbing at the brackets. The nylon still looks brandnew). The line I was talking about looks all rubber without a nylon inner tube, just to be sure I ordered a new one and will try to replace it somewhere this weekend. Thanks again for your input and I will let you now how I did.

Regards,

Gerko
