951 caliper modifications
Has anyone got the dimensions of the modifications to turn a 951 Brembo caliper into a radial mount, and some measurements of the adaptor to put them on a 911?
Thanks!

Good timing John! My winter proiject is to machine the calipers I have and make adapters. I may have access to the VCI adapters during the winter, but not now

I can take pictures and give you measurements for my 993TT caliper set. I can't post them until tonight.

That would be cool Jamie. I can do the CAD work then and make up some drawings.

Aren't the radial bolt holes for the 993 calipers different from the holes that are needed for 951 calipers? The axial holes on the adapters would be correct (3.5 or 3.0 spacing), but lets be mindful that the 993 adapters and the 951 adapters may not be the same.

Agreed, John.
I would also like to know how much of the ears of the 951 calipers is cut off. So if anyone has one laying around and has the adapters to match, please post ![]() John, I saw you tried to PM me, but my inbox was full. Can you e-mail me instead (that's if you still need to). |

They may not be the same. The radial holes may have to be moved to suit the caliper. It seems that I have seen radial adaptors for monoblock calipers and they appear to have the same dimensions. I don't know for sure.
btw, Souk, I notice that you need some 22mm front torsion bars. I have a Sanders hollow set that may be coming out the ST. They are just too stiff for the lightweight. The front end just bounces even with maximum damping on the Konis. Its like I have a Hardnose. I am experimenting this week.

Jamie, I'm interested in the 22mm front t-bars. Send me an e-mail when you are ready.

Jamie, I've procured the torsion bars I need. Thanks for thinking of me.
And how about those adapters? |

Not a problem, I said I would post the dimensions. I have not pulled those calipers from the box to OOgle at them in a few weeks. It's past time.
![]() I really need to procure a 23mm MC so I can install these things.

here are some dimensions. These are the 993TT calipers, otherwise known as big reds. I am not sure who made the adaptors. These are just for reference to convert radial to std mounts.
Lets start with the front. you can see there are two countersunk holes to mount the calipers to the struts. These are, of course, 3.5" spacing. These could also be made with 3" spacing for the early struts. I just saw a mistake. The diameter of the hole is 12mm not 10 per the inset picture. These are M12 caliper bolts and do require a 12mm hole. The countersink is to a depth of 12mm, hiding the head of the allen cap screw. Other dimensions are self-explanitory. ![]() The mounting bolts the fix the bracket to the caliper are M10x80mm. They fit through the caliper and bolt into threaded holes in the adaptor. These holes are offset 20mm on center so that the inside edge of the bracket matches the inside face of the caliper. ![]() Since were are talking about adaptors I will include the rears as well. On the caliper there will be a protrusion that ends up being the pad edge fixing spot. This will prevent the pad from sliding out of the end of the caliper. The caliper was milled flat to the height of these spots. If you look carefully at the pic below you will see how the left flat has been milled and the right has not. The entire area between these two sections is flat and provides a mating surface for the bracket. the two fixing bolts are threaded through the adaptor and into the caliper. The dimensions of these (inside the caliper) are 41mm deep and threaded using an end tap. This particular adaptor is using 3/8" x 1.5" allen cap screws. Again, I did not do the machining and wonder why they mixed std and metric. ![]() Let me know if I can make any additional measurements. I think I have them all. have fun on the Mill! Let the chips fly.

I can post the file tomorrow from work (I drew mine in UG). I didn't get all crazy with removing Aluminum like some do. I left them pretty basic. I didn't want to get skinny on something that might fail, brakes generate more power than the engine afterall. I have extras with grade8 zinc hardware for sale cheap, too. But I'd be more than happy to share my data with everyone. If you have a format that you prefer, let me know. .x_t, .igs, .dwg, .prt, .dxf, whatever, I do it all

None of the dimensions for the 993tt front or rear caliper adapters are relevant for the smaller 964/944 calipers(except the bolts).
Here is a modified 964 front caliper ![]()

Wow, I never realized how big these calipers were comparted to the 964/944 set. Its easy to compare based on the adaptor mount.
