82 SC turn signals

I think I'm in trouble with my GF now. Her left-rear turn signal was not working, so I opened up the light to figure out why. Wiggling the bulb got it to work, thankfully. But I noticed that one filament in the brake light/parking light dual bulb actually lit very dimly when the turn signal was on.

I decided to check the front-left turn signal housing. Jeez, that's very cramped in there!! Now, of course, none of the turn signals work at all. The relay doesn't click, the indicators on the dash don't light up, the external turn signals (F&R, L&R) do not light. But when I push the hazard button (it pops out to turn on, right?) everything blinks as it should.

Here's the weird part: The wiring for the left-front parking light seems backwards!! There's a brown wire that gets +12V when the hazard lights are on. And there's a grey/red wire that gets a ground full-time.

I have the sneaking suspicion that there's the hand of a stereo or alarm installer at work, here... Grr!

The fuses all look good, of course.

Could I have fried the turn signal switch connection when I tried to hook up the turn signal "correctly"?

I tried a couple of threads using the "search" function, and nothing quite seems to apply....

Thanks for any help!

Feh. I keep messing with it, and nothing gets better... Now the "parking lights" feed back through the turn signalindicator lights in the tach! Plus one element of the two-element bulb in the left-front signal does not work. I replaced the bulb, same behavior. I checked for voltage on the wires, it's there. I checked for voltage between the copper contact at the base of the socket and the side of the socket; it's there. I swapped the wire to the other "input" of the socket, and the other element of the bulb does work...

Sheez, this is frustrating!!

Hrm. Thanks!! I'm still very unsure about the wiring--the whole thing about the marker light wires being backwards, and the TS part of the socket not working, even though there's still voltage there... Arrgh! I'm getting frustrated again just thinking about it!!
